“Some might say I’m obsessed with photography, I like to say I’m passionate”
Hi my name is Pamela. I am an Accredited Professional Photographer with the AIPP based in Broome. When you join me on one of my photography workshops you will experience my passion for photography and my love of life in the Kimberley. We will seek out the special places and moments that come from years of living in the north west of Australia.
I am an award winning photographer, having recently won the 2017 AIPP WA Science, Wildlife and Wildplaces Photographer of the Year. Not only am I an experienced photographer but I have many years experience as an eco-tourism guide, so you will be in safe hands.
I have lived in the north west of Australia for most of my life and I have a strong connection to the country and its people. This is reflected in my images and during my workshops. The beauty, isolation, wildness and vulnerability of this land and its people.
This strong connection to the Kimberley hasn’t stopped me exploring, living and photographing other wonderful places of course.
I bought my first SLR when I was 18 when I left my family in Perth to travel Australia, photographing my experiences along the way. First with film and then with transparencies. Self-taught and forever on the lookout for more information and guidance to improve my skills, I was a great consumer of photography magazines during that time. My travels over the years have seen me living in the Northern Territory and Queensland forever drawn to photographing landscapes and wildlife. Travelling to remote parts of Australia is in my blood.
Eventually I settled in the remote north-west town of Broome, started a 4WD eco-tourism business, raised a family and continued my love of photography. Over the years my images have been published in a range of nature based magazines, calendars, tourism and commercial products.
I am now focused on bringing together my extensive experience in tourism and my love of photography to it’s natural conclusion by offering photography workshops to remote and interesting locations. On some workshops I have teamed up with other professionals in my field to offer an expanding array of adventures in the Kimberley and to Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean.
I also have a passion for fine art image making and I am continuing on my path to produce beautiful photographic art images with inspiration sourced from nature. Go to my gallery and shop to view these.
My first major exhibition was in 2015. An impressive 2.5 metre cube installation at Darling Harbour in Sydney, as a featured exhibitor for HeadOn Photo Festival 2015. Here you will see an image of me with my installation at Darling Harbour and another with my co-exhibitor Debbie Fowler from NSW.
In 2014 my works were part of the HeadOn Photo Festival exhibition that was shown in Sydney and then traveled to New Zealand, China and New York.
